Free Software in Balkans, 2010

The Free and Open Source Software in Balkans Conference is an annual meeting of the free software users, developpers and supporters in Balkans. It is going to be organized each year in a different country and place.

The first conference of this kind is going to be hosted by the University of Vlora, in Albania. The ideators of he conference are Flavia Marzano and James Mike DuPont. The organizers are the University of Vlora, the FLOSSK (Free/Libre Open Source Software Association of Kosova), and FOSS-AL (Free and Open Source Software Association of Albania -- yet to be created and legalized).

The aims of the conference are:

  • To be a pleasant experience for all the participants and speakers (without neccessarily being exhaustive for the organizers).
  • To help the free software users and developers in Balkans to exchange experiences and ideas between them.
  • To help them in setting new contacts and relations.
  • To promote the collaboration and cooperation between them.
  • To promote the usage of free software in the Balkan countries.
